The most effective products available today won't make a building sustainable unless long-term connectivity is assured throughout the building envelope. Beyond concerns over gaps and incompatibilities that may occur during construction, driving rain, dynamic wind loads, thermal movement and seismic conditions can direct a tremendous toll on the window-wall connection, leading to air and moisture infiltrations and a host of disastrous consequences. One proven way to ensure on-site performance is to put the facade to the test and Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing has done just that with its ExoAir™ Air Barrier in conjunction with its Proglaze® ETA Engineered Transition Assembly for the industry's most comprehensive, compatible air and moisture protection system.
It has been reported by leading industry experts that 90 percent of all water intrusion problems may occur within the one percent of the total building exterior surface area, which contains the terminations and transition detailing. Tremco's ExoAir Air Barrier, in conjunction with Proglaze ETA Engineered Transition Assembly, provides a single-source solution for the industry's only TESTED, PROVEN connection with assurance of long-term, on-the-job performance where standard sealants and sheet-applied products have been unable in many cases to perform effectively. Tremco has set a new industry standard with the inclusion of Proglaze ETA with its air barrier assembly ASTM E2357 (Standard Test Method for Determining Air Leakage of Air Barrier Assemblies) testing to include measurement of the air leakage that results when the air barrier wall assembly is combined with a window and/or curtain wall system as compared to air leakage through a solid wall with the air barrier assembly.
Independent testing has been taken to the next level and has been conducted for air infiltration, water-resistance and structural performance under seismic and dynamic wind load conditions, which may exist under "real world" condition such as wind loads of 150 psf encountered by a typical 20-story building in Miami.
