Get to know the people behind the business with our 5 Questions With series.

Once a month we sit down with a member of the Tremco Construction Products Australia (CPG) team to share some of their wisdom and expertise with us. This month we sat down with Marketing Director, Esther Savvas.

Esther Savvas

1. As Marketing Director, what is the most important aspect of your role in Tremco CPG Australia and why?

My role covers a really broad scope, but the most important aspect is driving strategy & growth for a sustainable, profitable business. We need to understand the market dynamics of each of our brands and segments and ensure we invest our time and resources into the areas that will provide the best return. Once our strategies are set, we must execute them and continuously review them.

2. What’s the most useful advice you’ve received in your career?

Build a team of great people all working towards a common vision and the results will come.

3. Tremco CPG Australia has a vast portfolio or products and brands.  Is there a particular product or technology that interests you and why?

I'm most fascinated by products that have a unique customer value proposition and solve customer pain points.  Products like NEM  (our Vulkem Non Exposed Membrane) which allows contractors to complete their jobs quickly (one coat) and results in a consistent & reliable solution. There's so much chemistry & engineering involved in creating a solution that is fit for purpose for our market requirements and local climate.  It's great to have an "Australian"solution.

4. Is there any emerging trends or technology within marketing and communications that interests you and why?

I've seen a multitude of changes in my career in both trends and technology which at the time seemed both overwhelming and exciting but have offered huge benefits.  I have always had the mindset to embrace change, it would be foolish to remain stagnant. The current "buzz "is around AI which is unlocking access to information, product development opportunities and much more all at remarkable speed. The scary part is that it may replace jobs, but at the same time we know that in ten years time (or sooner) jobs will be created that don't exist right now.

5. You are an advocate of The Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI®) and the Whole Brain® Model.  How does this apply to your daily practices and the management of your team?

I have been an advocate of Herrmann's Whole Brain Thinking Model because I am intrigued about how the brain works and what it is capable of (which is much more than we think)! The Whole Brain Model is a metaphor for how we think (how we process the world around us) and when we understand our own and each other's Thinking Style we can unlock better thinking, performance and results in a much more collaborative and enjoyable way. On a daily basis It makes our team more effective by giving us a common language to frame our cognitive diversity which improves communication, results, engagement and trust.
