I am fascinated by the intricate chemistry behind waterproofing products and solutions. The ability to create formulations that not only resist water but also adhere effectively to various surfaces is intriguing. Understanding the molecular interactions that lead to enhanced durability and long-lasting protection against the elements is a constant source of interest for me.

There are several new technologies that are fascinating and could provide some enormous benefits to the waterproofing industry.  Nanotechnology is one that has been investigated for many years now and has the potential to improve the wearability and water resistance of waterproof membranes.  By increasing the hydrophobicity of waterproof membranes, they not only repel water more easily, but will be easier to clean, therefore prolonging their life expectancy.   

Fire Resistant and Antistatic membranes are also an area of interest as they provide an extra layer of safety in high-risk environments such as bush fire zones and mining applications.

Over the next five years, I anticipate significant growth in sustainable construction practices. With an increasing focus on environmental responsibility, I believe there will be a surge in demand for eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient designs, and construction methods that minimize carbon footprint.  

One of the major challenges facing the construction industry in Australia is the ongoing shortage of skilled labour. Additionally, there are concerns about fluctuating material costs and supply chain disruptions. Balancing the need for rapid urbanisation with sustainable development practices is another hurdle. Overcoming these challenges will require collaborative efforts from industry stakeholders, government bodies, and educational institutions.

In Tremco CPG Australia, the most crucial aspect of my role lies in driving innovation and problem solving. As a part of the team, I contribute to creating cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving needs of the construction industry. Ensuring that our products meet high standards of performance, sustainability, and regulatory compliance is paramount. The ability to influence the industry positively through innovative and reliable construction solutions is the essence of my role.
